CinemaCon 2023, the biggest exposition of the movie industry held in Las Vegas, showcased trailers and teasers of some of the most highly-anticipated films from major studios like Disney, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Sony Pictures released a content slate that featured trailers and clips from movies like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Kraven The Hunter, Gran Turismo: The Movie, Bad Boys 4, and Napoleon. The event showcased a 14-minute-long footage of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in the presence of voice actors Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld. Aaron Taylor-Johnson virtually released a two-minute teaser of Kraven the Hunter, co-starring Russell Crowe, Alessandro Nivola, Ariana DeBose and Christopher Abbott. Academy award winner Denzel Washington unveiled the first trailer of The Equalizer 3. Orlando Bloom and David Harbour showcased the trailer for Gran Turismo: The Movie. The studio also unveiled footage from Insidious: The Red Door and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Warner Bros. Discovery presented trailers of three DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movies, including The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, along with glimpses into upcoming movies such as Dune Part Two, Barbie and Wonka. The studio confirmed that a sequel to Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice was also in development. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya joined director Denis Villeneuve to unveil the trailer of Dune: Part Two. Chalamet will also be seen in Wonka alongside Hugh Grant. The event showcased new footage from Margot Robbie-Ryan Gosling-starrer Barbie.
Disney presented sneak peeks of MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, animated movies Wish, Elemental, and The Little Mermaid, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The trailer for A Haunting in Venice, the third instalment in Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot movie franchise, was also released. Disney unveiled the first trailer of Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins, a sports comedy based on the American Samoa football team’s infamous 31-0 loss to Australia in 2001.
Universal and Focus Features showcased glimpses of Oppenheimer, Kung Fu Panda 4, Asteroid City, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, The Holdovers, Drive-Away Dolls, and Fast X. Christopher Nolan introduced Oppenheimer to the audience and announced that a full trailer of the movie may be released in theatres alongside Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Paramount Pictures announced, released video footage, and showcased trailers of upcoming films, including Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Killers of the Flower Moon, Transformers One, and the untitled Smurfs movie. The studio announced that Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will release on July 12, 2023, and shared a new trailer and unseen footage from the Tom Cruise-starrer. Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Moon had new images released, headlined by Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. The studio announced that Rihanna will not only be producing, writing and performing songs for the upcoming Smurfs movie but also be starring in it. John Krasinski shared the first look of A Quiet Place: Day One, which includes cast members Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou, and Denis O’Hare.
